About
“Airborne”, for mixed sextet, depicts the almost child-like sense of wonder and curiosity felt by many when looking up at the vastness of a warm summer sky – one filled with all sorts of airborne objects such as kites, dandelion ligules and small leaves. The work’s optimistic, bright emotive palette comes through with long, arching melodic lines across the variety of timbres and instruments present, along with open, broadly spaced harmonies and subtle modulating passages.
