“The Gift To Sing” was written as part of the Young Composers' Programme in the 2024 Montsalvat Choral Festival in Eltham, VIC. The uplifting, elegant text (written by James Weldon Johnson) embodies the spirit of the Festival – celebrating the joy of singing among those of all ages and backgrounds. It was both a joy to write and a joy to hear performed live.
