About

I am very much like French author André Gide, whenever I read his books, it feels like I am reading my own autobiography. Writing and composing are kindred arts; for me, the process of artistic creation involves a series of complex introspection: approval, debate, acceptance, humor, struggle, and entanglement with oneself. Gide accomplishes these observations and contemplations of human nature the best.
This musical composition attempts to explore the intricate aspects of human nature that Gide explores in his novel "La Porte étroite”. In my opinion, Russia is a contradictory and multifaceted nation, using Russian folk instruments like the Balalaika and Domra is the most appropriate way to depict the humanity portrayed by Gide.

Contents note

The compositional method I employ is called the "Han-Yin Method,"(瀚音法) which I self-created at the end of 2022. Han-Yin method is an interdisciplinary study of Microtones, Mandarin and Literature, combining 26 letters and 24 microtones. Based on this method, every letter matches its specific pitch. Following this method, the three key characters I selected from the book——“我”( Wǒ),“窄”( zhǎi)and“门” (mén) have formed with eight pitches and a Buff note( letter "Z" --Fermata). These eight pitches have generated their own mode, harmony, and colours.
