About
The Mountainsea is an ancient Chinese book that records hundreds of mysterious and strange monsters thousands of years ago, and it is mainly geographical knowledge in folklore, including mountains and rivers, geography, ethnic groups, products, medicines, sacrifices, witch doctors, etc. Every single story behind each mythical beast condenses and embodies the imagination and romance of the ancient Chinese.
This work is composed in the Han-yin method(瀚音法) .Han-yin method is a composition technique invented by composer Hanzhong Kang in recent years, which combines 24TETwith Mandarin2 (26 letters). In this method, every letter matches its specific pitch.
Composed for the Hanzhong Contemporary Ensemble

Translation:
The first mountain in the third series of mountains in the center is called Ao'an Mountain. The south of the mountain is rich in jade,
and the north of the mountain is rich in gold. A god named Xunchi lives here. From the mountain to the north, you can see the galloping Yellow River and lush jungles, which are shaped like madder and beech willow. There is a wild beast in the mountains, a white deer with four horns called Fuzhu, whose appearance indicates that there will be a flood there.
The rule of the “Han-Yin Method” (24 TET with 26 letters):
1. Each musical phrase should match the tone (4 tones) of each word
2. Only the last note of each phrase can be repeated in any octave and rhythm
3. When face the “Buff note” (Letter Y and Z), you can:
l Retrograde the pitch/rhythm from previous phrase
l Rise or lower any octaves from the previous phrase
l Totally imitate the previous phrase
l Shout the word and clap the body of instrument. Rhythm can approximate the indicated pattern
l Shout that word and imitate the rhythm of previous phrase by clapping the body of the instrument
