About
Rejoice! is a joyful response to the breaking of a drought when there has been a long wait
for rain to nourish the land.
The Marimba part features an Ostinato pattern that is heard throughout the music and
represents the earth. The Vibraphone represents life – flora and fauna. The strings play
pizzicato to represent the light raindrops and their lush long notes represent the heavy rain.
The Flute and Clarinet parts represent the people rejoicing and singing loudly with
gratefulness in their hearts. The short bridge passage at section C is pure joy, celebration,
and dancing!
