The text, derived from journal excerpts, incomplete poems, and excerpts from poems, by the 19th-century Jesuit priest uses these, combined with refashioning of plainchants relevant to Hopkins's writings and quotations from the music of near-contemporaries (e.g. Debussy, Delius) to form a portrait of the poet, his journey of faith and his appreciation of the natural world.
