About
'Emerge' is an exploration in organic, generative structures of gestures and harmony. The single pitch that initiates the piece functions as a “big bang”, the burst of energy signalling the creation of the piece’s musical universe.
From individual notes emerge dramatic motifs.
From individual motifs emerge rich, sonorous structures. From individual structures emerge freely and chromatically unfolding passages.
The passages ebb and flow between different states of sonority and gesture, from drier to lusher states in the ensemble, softer to visceral physicalities in the performers, from independent to unified structures throughout
