About

Non-Newtonian Fluid is a short piece, designed to play with both rhythm and melody, combining languid violin passages with harsh, percussive xylophone to create a piece that is never in stasis. In physics terms, a non-Newtonian fluid is a fluid that does not follow Newton's laws of viscosity; meaning that the fluid will be liquid until it is subjected to a force, at which point it solidifies. This idea was the inspiration behind this piece, a constant tugging and pulling at the fluidity of the two instruments.
