Wellington-based harpist and composer Michelle Velvin is the recipient of the 2019 SOUNZ Community Commission. Michelle will be writing a suite of dances for the Auckland Harp Orchestra. We caught up with Michelle to find out more about the project.

SOUNZ recently caught up with composer James Gardner to talk about his upcoming work 'Gyre (Ghosts with Accents)', a concerto for percussion quartet and orchestra, which will be premiered in Christchurch on 21 September by the Los Angeles Percussion Quartet and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Benjamin Northey.

It was written for violinist Mark Menzies (R) and was premiered in May 2019 by the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the soloist.
