Biography
Tessa Petersen is currently Senior Lecturer in Violin at the University of Otago and Concertmaster of the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra. Over a varied career as a performer and teacher she has performed as orchestral player, concertmaster, soloist, chamber musician and violin/piano duo recitalist in festivals and concerts in the UK, Europe, USA, Caribbean, Middle East and Asia. She has adjudicated around the country for National chamber music and concerto competitions and as an examiner for the New Zealand Music Examinations Board. Equally at home performing classical and contemporary repertoire, Tessa has actively promoted and collaborated with New Zealand composers since her return to NZ in 2006, including commissions by Anthony Ritchie, Jeremy Mayall, Robbie Ellis.
