About
This aleatoric conceptual work is a musical transliteration of observations I made of my young children and their play/pretend reading. It continues to draw on free-play philosophy in early childhood education which inspired my original Freies Spiel. This work is also an invitation to the performer to explore their own inner-dialogue in a process of self-discovery and examination.
The score uses a combination of mensural and proportional notation along with the use of ‘indefinite accidentals’ which allows the player freedom to choose the deviation of certain notes. The orientation and layout of the score invites the player to compile a story drawing on excerpts from various ‘stories’ which amalgamate into one continuous narrative.
