About

The brass instruments have always been very evocative instruments for me. Silver Bands conjure mining collieries and there is a strong association with military or martial marches and parades. 'Once Great Nation' for brass quintet evokes a fallen empire throughout its three movements. And what empire hasn't fallen in recent times? This work was composed in New Zealand.
