About
Marcus often approaches material in extremes, being most comfortable working at the upper and lower limits of volume and stimulus. In particular, he enjoys taking very small gestures, sounds or objects, and amplifying their role in the performance context. With ‘a somnolence…’ Marcus has taken an object, functionally a somewhat obnoxious referee’s whistle, and, through the mode of musical performance, employed that object in a way that expresses a detailed beauty and careful delicacy - a subtle sonic contemplation.
