About
The Woman at the Well paints the story of a woman's miraculous encounter with Jesus, who tells her everything about her life without having met her before, or even entered the region. This life-changing experience prompts her to tell everyone in her village about Jesus the Messiah. The piece is written as if hearing snatches of the conversation down the well, depicting the swirling waters, deep echoes and luminous melodies of the exchange, as Jesus invites her to drink his living water.
Based on the ancient account written in chapter 4 of the Gospel of John.
"Jesus answered her, 'If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.'"
