These two short pieces for solo guitar were some of the first compositions written whilst still as a student at the Birmingham School of Music (now Royal Birmingham Conservatoire). Classical guitar was my second instrument at the time, though I had to drop it later due to the problem with long nails and playing the piano.
(The Cadenza requires tuning the 'D' string up to D sharp — so perhaps best programmed as the last piece in a programme.)
