Marcus Jackson’s contribution to the Dylan Lardelli-curated collection of new works for Japanese musicians is ‘porcelain; expanding’. Recorder player Tosiya Suzuki is asked to play two recorders simultaneously.
The aesthetic should be minimal throughout. Each movement should be as economical and considered as possible. The sound-world sought throughout should be fragile, vulnerable, and pale. The performer’s energy should be relaxed as much as is practicable. The work should not come across as dark, but rather innocent and considered.
