About

This short, simple work celebrates the region and the people of Golden Bay, Nelson, by taking the local geographical feature, Pupu Springs, as a structural starting point and symbol for creativity.

Section A (Underground Activity) represents water underground and Ruaumoko, the hidden source of creativity, with its static feeling of increasing longing. B is bubbling, flowing water - energy released. C (Agitated Movement) is water seeking the surface - creative energy pushing against resistance. D, a kind of double stretto, suggest the many springs and streams in the area, free and complex activity, the edge of chaos, where creativity resides. E celebrates the deep, crystal pool of Pupu Springs and its flora and fauna - a moment of serenity before returning to Agitated Movement (F), Underground Energy (G) and Flowing Water (H) as the cycle begins again.
