Hudson River Pieces was originally written for Besser’s group Bravura. The Jade String Quartet (made up of four APO musicians) then requested an arrangement of the work. The Auckland Chamber Orchestra followed suit, performing it in concert in 2006, and now the piece will have its most expansive arrangement yet, for a full symphony orchestra.
The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra performed the premiere of the full orchestra version in February 2008.
