This Auckland Philharmonia concert features the world premiere performance of Jonathan Besser's Hudson River Pieces, alongside works by Copland, Gershwin and Dvorak.
Three Hudson River Pieces was originally written for Besser’s group Bravura. The Jade String Quartet (made up of four APO musicians) then requested an arrangement of the work. The Auckland Chamber Orchestra followed suit, performing it in concert last year, and now the piece will have its most expansive arrangement yet, for a full symphony orchestra.
