About
A facility for improvising on the piano was the seed of Leonie Holmes’s interest in composition (having been steered away from journalism by her journalist father). In this Baby Boomer Composer interview with Donald Maurice, we hear about Leonie’s early life, her studies at Auckland University with Douglas Mews Senior, John Rimmer and John Elmsly, and her work as Composer in Schools.
Examples of Leonie’s work played during the interview are her Dance of the Wintersmith and Aquae Sulis.
Filmed and edited by Chris Watson for the Resound Project (funded by NZ On Air).
