About
New Zealand women voted for the first time on 28 November 1893. As we lead up to this Suffrage 125 milestone, SOUNZ celebrates the music of New Zealand’s wahine composers with the release of 31 Resound films captured at three recent concerts.
First up is complete coverage of the Auckland Chamber Orchestra’s Helen Bowater Composer Portrait concert, filmed at the Raye Freedman Centre in June. The seven works composed over a span of 25 years provide a unique concentrated insight into this much-loved figure of the composition community.
Filmed and edited by Chris Watson for the Resound Project (funded by NZ On Air). Audio recorded by Franco Viganoni.
