Nine Artists in Fiordland

Concert

In 2007 the vessel ‘Breaksea Girl’ was chartered by the Caselberg Trust. Nine artists and a film-maker spent six days aboard, on a creative wilderness residency in Fiordland. The Otago Festival of the Arts is delighted to premiere Nine Artists in Fiordland - the culmination of this creative endeavour.

Their individual and collaborative works - paintings, poetry, jewellery, film, music and song - make up this cornucopia of creativity. St Paul’s Cathedral will become a stage to celebrate these artists and their work.

An original evening of poetry by will be interspersed with music by Gillian Whitehead as well as film by Mark Orton.

Gillian’s settings of F-Wh-Fugue by Claire Beynon and Camelot by Glenn Colquhoun will be performed by Janet Roddick (soprano), Emma Sayers (piano) and Ben Hoadley (bassoon) while her Three Windows in the Weather sets Greg O’Brien’s spoken text against bassoon and piano
