Wellington based composers and performers are celebrating political music in a concert of musical resistance where composer Urs Signer will be launching his CD Songs of the young Anarchist in the Adam Concert Room next week.
Urs describes the music as an eclectic mix of 12-tone theory, Jazz harmony, improvisation and Klezmer. Politically, the music reflects on various issues including class struggle, racism, colonisation and the patriarchy. It is an exploration of the dialectial relationship between music and politics.
The concert also features fellow composers and performers Natalie Hunt, Simon Eastwood, Hermione Johnson, Frances Moore, Te Kupu, Don Franks, Charley Davenport, Matiu Te Huki and Anton Killin.
