This concert is the culmination of an intensive week's work for the two orchestras formed for the APO Summer School: the Fellowship Orchestra consists of participants and APO mentors on a one-to-one basis and The Concertmaster’s Chamber Orchestra led by APO Concertmaster Dimitri Atanassov and visiting woodwind professional Gordon Hunt. This group will only be made up out of accepted participants.
The Fellowship Orchestra will play the violin concerto Remembering by NZ composer Kenneth Young, who will also conduct the Fellowship Orchestra. The soloist will be Vesa-Matti Leppänen who is Concertmaster for the NZ Symphony Orchestra. The Fellowship Orchestra will also work on and perform Shostakovich’s 10th Symphony.
