In ‘Cloud Drama 云戏’ composer Gao Ping remembers a journey with friends through the Rou’er’Gai Steppe of the Northwestern border of Sichuan. He writes, “At dawn and dusk, the distant clouds outside the car window imbued me with nameless sentiments. The mountains and plains created a stage, on which the clouds made performances, as if they were some characters from a drama. As mere passersby, we watched the play and our thoughts flew to far places.”
