From the serious to the quirky, the generous and restrained, Martin [Lodge] has managed a skilful balance between academic rigour and artistic freedom. These qualities have served him well both in vocation and life. Nevertheless, the perils of both have always been near and it is perhaps the cry of this vulnerability that is echoed in this short musical epilogue for a good friend and thoroughly supportive colleague.
