This work is co-composed with Olivia Webb.
Composed in response to Olivia Webb's 2021 SCAPE Public Art commission, Resilience Training. Costumed in black utilitarian overalls, and carrying musical instruments, a small group of performers navigate a circular route through the Ōtautahi Botanic Gardens, pausing for musical meditation at each of the four sites which comprise Webb's artwork.
The public was invited to journey with the performers as part of a weekly procession, as well as undertake some of the tasks set out in the artwork. The musical meditations are quiet and carefully respond to each site. Audiences were welcome to move amongst the performers during each musical meditation to fully experience the various sounds the musicians were making.
Resilience Training was a voluntary public performance artwork that intends to help us prepare for the seemingly unending series of crises that define our world today.
