About
I've always been a guitar noodler and haven't progressed past this skill level but find it a satisfying pass time. Having spent a lot of time in front of a computer making music I figured playing a real instrument would be a nice way to change it up. The bones of these pieces were written for a failed 48 hour short film in 2006. The 48 hour team had disintegrated but I was left with some music fragments that appealed. Once the pieces were recorded they were cut up and edited so I was able to apply a lot of my computer based music making skills. I also really wanted to collaborate with another artist and that's where Ryan Smith came in and added piano. Initially I had planned for each song to have three different versions but when I tried this out on a few people they found it too confusing so I scrapped that idea. The songs don't progress in a standard fashion - instead they could almost be played indefinitely. And I like this feeling of endless drifting dreaming loops. As they're instrumental works I decided that having moving pictures to accompany them was a good way for listeners to access the music.
