About
Murmurs, whispers... is a work that explores the way proximity and relativity affects our experience of sound. The inspiration for this work comes from the way a whisper contains many higher partials that can be excruciating to the human ear up close but quickly dissipates as the whisper is placed further and further away from our ear. Murmurs, almost in the opposite way to whispers, are more noticeable as sound from a distance but are often harder to distinguish as words when up close. In this work the distinction between these two ideas is often interwoven and blurred creating a moving and amorphous texture.
