About
This poem is often called Salutation to the Dawn and appears in various forms and translations. The short poem is by one of the greatest Sanskrit poets of India - Kalidasa. Kalidasa lived around the 4th-5th centuries, and little is known of his life. The poem talks about the importance of the past, present and future. The past is but a dream, the future a vision but the present if well-lived, makes our past a dream of happiness and our future, a vision of hope.
Look To This Day was written for the 50th anniversary of Auckland Boys Choir. The score includes a part for TBB choir, intended for former members of the choir to sing. The work is dedicated to the choir and its conductor Stuart Weightman.
