About

The Mosaique of the Aire was commissioned by William L. and Pamela S. Richter, Santa Cruz, California, for Mahler Foundation. To add special relevance to the new work, both in today's world and in relation to the legacy of the Festival, the composition was commissioned in the spirit of the motto, 'rebuilding the broken spiritual bridges between the peoples', which appeared in a manifesto issued by Arnold Schoenberg and other prominent composers at the first Amsterdam Mahler Festival in 1920.
