About
Composed by the Free Radicals, a Wellington-based art music duo comprised of Jonathan Besser and Ross Harris.
This piece appeared on the 1983 Free Radicals album Polarities. Jonathan wrote the lyrics for the piece, and he says this about the track: “Free Radicals: post war 'space age' moon babies. Satellites were simple then and not cluttering outer space. In 1983 there were no drones or Internet surveillance, no CTV cameras, GPS tracking, or wall piercing heat sensitive devices. “We could see through the roof of your house" was a metaphor that proved to be prophetic. We processed my voice with ring modulation to give it a crude robotic 'space-age' character.”
This is as ‘rocky’ as Free Radicals ever got, with soaring synthesizer, poppy bass and drum lines from the Roland TR-303 and TR-606, and Gerry Meister’s shimmering guitar solo.
