About

The String Trio for violin, viola and cello is major work in four movements. Subtitled, 'formalism', the opening themes are based on the notes formed from the names BACH and DSCH. Dmitri Shostakovich was accused of formalism in 1948 even though it was an entirely made-up name used to discredit him during Stalin's reign of terror. I wanted to blatantly write a piece of that name.
