About
This short work was written as a baptismal anthem for the christening of Nicholas Reid Szabó Johnston, the second child of Claire and Rowan. Having written "Blessing for a New-born Child" in 2015 for their daughter, I was delighted to be asked for a similar piece for Nicholas. The music sets a short text by Victorian poet Christina Rossetti about a parent's love.
Love me - I love you,
Love me, my baby;
Sing it high, sing it low,
Sing it as may be.
Mother's arms under you,
Her eyes above yu;
Sing it high, sing it low,
Love me - I love you.
-- Christina Rossetti (1830-1894) --
