About

Ngaere, a co-composition of Alistair Fraser and Tristan Carter, is an exploration of some of the many voices of Hine Pū Te Hue - the Atua of gourds. Alistair and Tristan decided to focus on the voices of ngā hue (gourds), of which there are many different types.

They chose the title 'Ngaere' (to quake, oscillate) to represent the sonic attributes of the poiāwhiowhio and hue puruhau, both featured in this piece.
