Commemorative Ode was composed for the 1906-1907 New Zealand International Exhibition in Christchurch. It opened the first concert by the first professional orchestra in New Zealand, and was conducted by the composer. The Ode was performed for the first time in over 100 years, by the Orpheus Choir and Wellington Chamber Orchestra in June 2007.
