About

Tackling Duel for two horns and percussion is a musical setting of an Americas Cup image in which dramatic rhythmic ideas between the horns are answered and varied. The percussion not only comments on and mediates in this action, but at time threatens to dominate.

Tackling Duel was commissioned by Nicola Averill, principal horn of the Auckland Philharmonia, with funding provided by Creative New Zealand.
