Murmures 2 was composed in 2000 for the New Zealand clarinet trio Solaris, and was performed by the group at the 'Clarinetfest 2000' in Oklahoma, USA, in July of that year. It is the second of a series of swirling but delicate sounding pieces for various ensembles.

Rhythm and texture are important aspects of Murmures 2 which means 'sonic ripples', and the gentle, fluid-like, undercurrents of sounds are splashed with occasional turbulences.

Murmures 2 was recorded by 175 East in August 2000.
