The life and work of celebrated New Zealand composer Gillian Karawe Whitehead is captured in this documentary filmed during her year as the first Composer in Residence to live in Douglas Lilburn's former home in Thorndon, Wellington.

Comissioned by Artsville, TVONE, Composer in Residence offers a rare insight into the creative process bringing Whitehead's unique music to life as she works on a range of projects during her residency with the New Zealand String Quartet and Richard Nunns, Carolyn Mills and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the New Zealand School of Music, Tudor Consort and the Royal NZ Air Force Central Band, and Gaylene Preston.
