New Zealand composers achieved a historic milestone this weekend as RNZ Concert revealed their listeners’ Top 30 favorite classical music pieces in Settling the Score 2023.

For the first time in history, four NZ pieces made the list with two NZ works claiming first and second place.

Chris Artley's beautifully crafted choral work O Magnum Mysterium leads the rankings in first place, followed by Claire Cowan's incandescent Hansel and Gretel ballet score in second place (nationwide tour commences this month).

Also featured in the Top 30 are Victoria Kelly's 2023 SOUNZ Contemporary Award-winning Requiem in 11th place, and Claire Cowan's Ultra Violet in 20th place.
