About
To invert is to turn inwards, exposing the internal qualities of an object.
Recorded between 2020 and 2021, Inverse employs recordings of personally significant discarded or unnoticed sounds. An orchestra tuning, the clicks of disused electronic devices, the subtle song of wind chimes at a family member's house. By collecting these often-forgotten sound objects, Inverse exposes the intangible, fibrous sonic connections we have to the people, places, and events that comprise our lives.
Amee Kathryn Parker’s cover connects to this notion, documenting a fleeting moment in Bled, Slovenia. Suspended and inverted here, this photograph acquires new meaning, unveiling the way the past is forever carried forwards with us.
