About

The iconic Maori Battalion fought for New Zealand in WWII in Egypt, North Africa and Italy where they recorded songs while serving in the war effort. Remarkably, the original recordings survived the journey back to New Zealand and sixty years on have been retrieved from archives. The recordings are here presented as a double CD that also contains historical announcements and broadcasts; photos in the accompanying booklet also help to place this album in its historical context. Sheet music (melody, piano arrangement & chords) of selected tracks can be found in this album
