What is improvisation? Rob Thorne contends that it is something we all do quite naturally in our everyday lives when we converse with others, socialise and carry out daily tasks.
In part eight of our interview with Rob he also talks about the reluctance many composers feel about reaching out to taonga pūoro performers for fear of being somehow culturally inappropriate.
Rob maintains that respect for tikanga and the mahi of taonga pūoro specifically are held in place by the very intention to create collaboratively.
