The Big Sing 2008 National Finale sponsored by the New Zealand Choral Federation featured 23 choirs recommended by commentators from the hundreds which performed in regional festivals in June. This Gala Concert, of which highlights can be heard on this CD, is the culmination of the three day festival. The repertoire is varied an includes several arrangements of Māori songs such as He honore and Kihikihi as well as jazz standards and standard choral repertoire.
The recording was made in Wellington Town Hall by Radio New Zealand Concert.
