Company Z Dance and AUT University Dance Collective hold a workshop/open rehearsal of Lilburn Variations, a new dance work in progress as part of the AUT/Waikato exchange: Tertiary Crossroads .
Described as the father of New Zealand music composition, Douglas Lilburn has a deeply significant role in the creation of New Zealand music. In this new dance work choreographed by Timothy Gordon, Company Z Dance Trust and the AUT University Dance Collective have come together to bring you a unique opportunity by offering a dance performance workshop designed to enhance the viewers experience of the processes and behind the scenes look at the creation of a new work.
The Performance workshop will include:
*A short introduction
*A short Rehearsal
*Performance of the work
*An experience of learning a phrase
*Feedback
Artistic director, Timothy Gordon has composed a landscape of dance vignettes reflecting on Lilburn’s musical imagination and invention.
