Johannes Fritzsch conducts the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and the TSO Chorus in a concert which includes the premiere of Night Songs, a new work by "Maria Grenfell":http://sounz.org.nz/contributor/composer/1045 specially commissioned work for the TSO's 60th anniversary.
Also on the programme are Variations on a Theme by Joseph Haydn (Brahms), Sea Pictures (Elgar) and Song of Destiny (Brhms) with Lilli Paasikivi (Mezzo soprano).
'With this program we travel into the Romantic, with music of deepness and warmth, melancholia and hope, humanity and peace. Brahms' music communicates very well with that of Elgar, the great Romantic from England. I am excited to be conducting a first performance of the new work by Tasmanian[/Kiwi] composer Maria Grenfell.' -- Johannes Fritzsch
