Yes, the Bay of Plenty Music School is taking place in Taranaki this year!
The venue for this three day annual music school moves each year between Rotorua, Tauranga, Whakatane and New Plymouth. 2008 will be the 39th year for the Bay of Plenty Music School, The school is run with the assistance of the University of Waikato, and with substantial financial backing from several charitable trusts and sponsors. It caters for choral, orchestral and band musicians, both adult and student. In fact it is a boast of the school that musicians aged from 13 to 80 (or more) can be found making music together on equal terms.
The Music School provides a unique opportunity for musicians of all ages to get together in a friendly non-competitive atmosphere. Players work in groups under the guidance of the expert conductors, building towards a performance on the Sunday afternoon.
This year the choir is conducted by Roger Stevenson and the orchestra by Adam Jasinski.
