Acclaimed New Zealand Composer Gareth Farr’s Te Kōanga, celebrates life and regeneration with an “extraordinary evocation of stillness and gentle birdsong” (Stuff). Joseph Haydn’s String Quartet, Op. 64, No.5, The Lark showcases melodies that soar like thriving bird life. Dame Gillian Whitehead’s Poroporoaki explores taonga puoro improvisations and honours Aotearoa’s cultural and natural heritage. And finally, Antonín Dvořák’s String Quartet No. 12, Op. 96, the American Quartet captures the spirit of exploration, reflecting the diverse ecosystems within the sanctuary.
Live at Orokonui Ecosanctuary, Sounds of the Sanctuary celebrates and connects us to the natural world through the power of music.
