The Aroha String Quartet will be joined by the Wellington Community Choir under Julian Raphael and Oriental Voices and the Lyrica Choir from Kelburn Normal School under Haibo Li for a free and fun family concert to celebrate the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival in a Kiwi way.
The choirs and the Aroha Quartet will perform a selection of festive songs and tunes from China and Aotearoa separately and together. The programme will include Chinese folk songs as well as works from New Zealand such as ‘Hine e Hine’ and Gareth Farr’s ‘Mondo Rondo’.
The MC, Hui Luo, will use Chinese and New Zealand poetry to link the musical items.
Doors open at 2 for the Ode to the Moon concert. Free admission and no reservations, so be early to get a seat!
