Ligeti - Bagatelles Ravel - Le tombeau de Couperin (arr) Ibert - 3 Pièces Brèves Malcom Arnold - Three Shanties for Wind Ken Wilson - Wind Quintet Nielsen - Quintet
The Koru Quintet unites five of Auckland’s leading wind players in a dynamic ensemble. Comprised of musicians from the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, the quintet has shared their enthusiasm for chamber music with audiences around Auckland over the past 15 years. Each member of the ensemble brings a wealth of experience to the group as dedicated performers of solo, chamber and orchestra music.
Their programmes showcase the sonority of woodwind quintet with works from the standard repertoire by Ibert, Nielsen, and Ligeti, plus some delightful arrangements of well-known favourites. This performance features the quintet written in 1963 by New Zealand clarinettist and composer Ken Wilson.
